AL GORE: BEYOND POLITICS

The climate crisis is not a political issue, it is a moral and spiritual challenge to all of humanity. It is also our greatest opportunity to lift global consciousness to a higher level. Former United States Vice President Al Gore upon receiving the Nobel Peace Prize

(Man-made) warming of the climate system is widespread and can be detected in temperature observations taken at the surface, in the free atmosphere and in the oceans. . . . It is highly likely that the warming observed during the past half century cannot be explained without external forcing (human activity).
United Nations' Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change. February 2, 2007

Today the Nobel Committee awarded the Nobel Peace Prize to former Vice President Al Gore and the UN Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change. The committee selected Gore and the IPCC for their work to raise awareness on climate change and global warming.

Gore announced that he will donate his prize money to the Alliance for Climate Protection. His work has earned significant recognition this year, including two Oscars for An Inconvenient Truth, a 2006 documentary which addresses the dangers of climate change.
